Protein Folding

Stanford University is home to the world’s largest networked supercomputer. Hundreds of thousands of personal computers are linked, busily crunching numbers to better understand how proteins fold and find cures for cancer, Alzheimer’s,¬†and other diseases.

More computers = faster research.

We helped boost their reach through user experience design by connecting to a broader audience though an emotional, informative video and redesigning the steps to download the software and get it running.

Most of those changes are invisible because part of user experience design entails removing barriers.

Along with the function of setting preferences and monitoring progress, the control panel you see below provides the message, “You are part of the team. You are doing good work.”
