I got used to throwing stuff over the wall to my client. He'd get back to me with clear comments about what was working and what wasn't. After about 6 months we were on iteration 33 or so, and the product had shipped and morphed and improved and shipped again in a process Silicon Valley legends label "organic." I was impressed. Most processes people called "organic" were just messy. This one moved and grew and adapted. Veodia has a video recording, cataloging, and sharing service. I worked with their Product VP, Etay Gafni, to design the "widget" UI. I did all the wireframes and visual design. Here are some shots of the "final" organically derived application. What was so nice about working on this project is that our gracioius client wanted things simple and actually helped them stay that way. This screen shows how the UI looks when your camera is ready to record. You just click that red button!

After you click Start Recording, there is a short period in which the app connects to the server and tells the hamsters to start running. |

The red tells you that you are recording. The dot was my idea. |

These little pauses while the server compresses the video gave me an opportunity to think about what "processing" might look like. It turns out that "processing" looks like an eye getting pixelated. I didn't know that before. |

Here you see the catalog you build with all the recording you are doing. The programmers were awesome, especially Claude Boselli, who made the shadows around the scrolling rows of in the video catalog look super. Software folks who will do the details are angels. |

You can upload videos too. The first time I delivered mockups to Etay, he replied in an email, "Let's go with number 3." When we spoke on the phone later that day, I suggested, "So, you like the design." His reponse was, "'Like' is such a strong word." Turns out that's just a thing he says to be funny sometimes. I'm not sure I ever got him back for that. Maybe I'll post a picture somewhere.
